Famous Parts Upgrades the CL 63 AMG With COR Wheels and Engine Tuning
One of the more overlooked models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup is the CL-Class. It is based on the same chassis as the flagship car, the S-Class, and is a large grand touring coupe that boasts great performance and top-notch luxury and style. The German aftermarket tuning company, Famous Parts, was able to take this automobile packed with potential and create the ultimate luxury cruiser with a host of new aftermarket performance and luxury parts that emphasize the sportiness and power of the CL63 AMG ranging from a new ECU tune to new chassis upgrades such as forged COR Wheels.
The pre-facelift W216-generation CL 63 AMG model was one of the most expensive and powerful models that Mercedes-Benz sold at the time. It features a hand-made 6.2-liter V8 engine that came in two output variants ranging from the stock 518 hp at 6800 rpm and 465 lb-ft. at 5200 rpm to the 560 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 585 lb-ft. at 5,200 rpm with the optional AMG performance package. The naturally aspirated engine emitted a thunderous exhaust note and sped to 60 mph in under five seconds. The team at Famous Parts in German installed a new ECU flash that altered the ignition, timing, fuel injection, and other variables in the engine to produce more power. A new stainless steel exhaust system with integrated valve flaps replaced the stock exhaust system and reduces backpressure for better throttle response. The end result of the upgrades was a total of 610 horsepower being sent to each of the wider COR Wheels at the rear axle for quicker acceleration figures.
Much of the chassis was upgraded to accommodate for the added power figures and to improve on the overall design of the Mercedes-Benz CL 63 AMG. The standard rim and tire setup was removed and replaced with a larger set of COR Wheels for a bigger footprint at the front and rear axles. The new rims were installed in a 10.5 x 21.0-inch setup at both axles and equipped with 265/30 R21 and 305/25 R21 Continental Sport Contact high-performance tires for even greater amounts of grip. To ensure that the new COR Wheels fit flush within the fenders, the ABC air suspension was given an automatic lowering module that reduces ride height by 25 mm, and a set of new H&R spacers were installed at both axles.
The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz CL 63 AMG was also given a makeover by Famous Parts. The German company installed a full BlackEdition V1 widebody kit from Prior Design that extended both front and rear fenders outward for a more muscular look. The front of the sports car was given a new bumper with integrated spoiler, a vented hood, new side skirts, a redesigned bumper with integrated diffuser, and a rear trunk spoiler for added downforce.
All of the products that are featured on the CL 63 AMG by Famous Parts can be ordered from the German company. Products can be ordered individually or as an entire package depending on the customer’s needs.
